Today’s session was a meaningful and enriching experience for the children, made possible through the support and involvement of Janelle’s family. The sharing was closely linked to our SSDB topic, “Caring for Our Family, Friends and Community,” and our curriculum focus for the term, helping children connect real-life experiences with their learning, including places of interest shared during the session. Janelle’s dad conducted an engaging sharing on important values such as respect and helping one another. He highlighted living in harmony despite different races and emphasised the importance of spending quality time with family. He also introduced people in the community, such as police officers, helping children understand how they support and care for others. His interactive approach, through asking questions, kept the children actively involved. Janelle was confident and enthusiastic, sharing her experiences clearly with her peers. The session strengthened children’s understanding of values while building confidence and meaningful connections between home and school.
