PCF Sparkletots Preschool @ Woodgrove Blk 364 took the project “Guardians of the Sea”, with the aim to help save the Marine animals and their environment. It was a collaborated project with SEA Aquarium.

On April 29, 2019, we launched our project. To kick start the event we had a story telling from our Guardian Princess, Teacher Siti. She shared a beautiful story about her world.

The children enjoyed listening to the story. They shared their thoughts on what are the different things that they need to do to help save the marine animals and the environment. They promise to be good Guardians of the Sea to protect the lives underwater.

On May 20, 2019, The Sea Aquarium team visited our centre and discussed with the children the ways to protect Singapore’s Natural Heritage through reduction of single use plastics. The children acquired so much knowledge and valuable learning experience from the Sea Aquarium team.

Using the SEE, THINK, WONDER activity, children participated well in the discussion and persevered to finish their task as a group. Children had opportunity to share withtheir peers on how to protect the sea creatures and oceans.

“ I see bottles and straw on the ground, i think the people who throw rubbish into ocean are bad”

“ I see the turtle eating the plastic bag. He thinks that is a food for him”

“ I wonder how can we help these animals?”

To ensure continued efforts in raising awareness against marine plastic pollution, families played their part in helping to promote marine conservation by practising upcycling, reducing, reusing and recycling.

During the June holiday, the children created craft activities as collaboration between parents and child using reusable materials.
